We would like to welcome you to Chiropractic Children’s Healthcare, your chiropractor for children in both Rosanna and Wantirna, and we look forward to helping your child. Our aim is to work with you and your family to achieve the best outcome for your child.
Chiropractic Children's Healthcare was established in 2000 as the first chiropractic clinic in Australia where the chiropractors see only children. With practices in Rosanna and Wantirna, Chiropractic Children’s Healthcare provides services to children of all ages in the Knox, Wantirna, Bayswater and Boronia regions as well as Rosanna, Ivanhoe, Heidelberg, Viewbank and surrounding suburbs. Currently over half our patients are under one year old. Because we see only children the practitioners at Chiropractic Children's Healthcare have developed high level skills as well as high level clinical experience in looking after children and their health issues.
We have developed a network of very experienced and knowledgeable practitioners such as paediatricians, medical practitioners, optometrists, podiatrists, nutritionists, lactation consultants and educational psychologists with whom we work.
The chiropractors at Chiropractic Children's Healthcare are also unique in that they have all completed or are completing postgraduate training in chiropractic paediatrics at Diplomate, Master or Fellowship level and they are all also involved in training other chiropractors around Australia how to better care for paediatric patients.
As leading practitioners in chiropractic paediatrics we are also involved in clinical research to improve the evidence base of chiropractic paediatrics and also to improve the outcomes for our patients. Chiropractic Children's Healthcare is Australia's leading chiropractic paediatric research centre.

Your first visit to Chiropractic Children’s Healthcare
The initial consultation is typically 40-60 minutes long. We ask you to arrive 20 minutes before your initial consultation to allow time for some forms to be completed and your file to be prepared.
The initial consultation includes an extensive discussion covering your pregnancy, your baby’s birth, your baby’s feeding and sleeping habits, their development and many other questions appropriate for their age. We also discuss diet, family history and many other aspects of your child’s behaviour. Once we know everything about your child there will perform a comprehensive and extensive examination. Any unusual or abnormal findings will be shown to you and at the end of the examination we will discuss with you any issues arising from the examination. Treatment options will be discussed and any additional actions needed to assist your child will be mentioned. Referral to another health care practitioner will be discussed if indicated.
We spend a lot of time discussing appropriate infant formula, breast feeding issues, sleep issues and infant bowel function!
The stages of chiropractic care for your infant
Acute care stage
Once the primary musculoskeletal issue has been identified, treatment is started to restore normal function to the joints and the muscles. This will also have beneficial effects on your child’s nervous system. When beginning care, adjustments may need to be more frequent to maximise their effect and to counter the learnt patterns the joint and muscles have adopted.
Stabalisation care stage
During this phase the visit frequency is reduced and is typically every one or two weeks. Treatment during this phase maintains normal joint and muscle function whilst very important changes are occurring at the tissue level in the supportive muscles, ligaments, bone and cartilage. As the muscles and ligaments strengthen optimal function will be supported. A young child’s rapidly growing and developing body typically responds more quickly and greater tissue responses are possible compared to an older child or an adult. This allows greater structural changes to be generated.
Prevention care stage
Keeping the spine and muscles working normally as your infant grows allows the original issue to potentially fully resolve. Assessment typically might be recommended every 1 to 3 months. Also any new issue can be detected and dealt with early on with early detection often associated with better response. During this stage of care your child’s growth and development are tracked and their neurological progress monitored to assist with early detection of any issues.

Frequency of visits to our office is determined based on your child’s specific needs, and not based on a set plan. Our practitioners and our Chiropractic Assistants will do their best to help you follow the recommendations and achieve the best results.
